About this piece

The Alderley is a weighty two-tone edge-grain board built for serious kitchen work. The alternating pale and honey blocks give it a measured checker rhythm, with enough thickness and weight to stay planted while chopping, slicing or carving.

The board has the practical details expected on a premium prep piece: a juice groove on the working face, softened edges, recessed side grips and rubber feet underneath. The clear block pattern gives the board a confident presence on the counter.

The timbers
European Oak
Quercus robur · Germany

Pale gold, open-grained, and built for work - the classic European bench timber.

A pale honey-gold hardwood that deepens beautifully with age and oil. European Oak is strong, open-grained, and famously durable, long used in furniture, joinery, beams, and hard-working surfaces across Europe. Best for chopping boards and pieces that need to feel solid, practical, and made for real everyday use.

European Beech
Fagus sylvatica · Germany

Quiet, pale, and practical - the dependable workhorse of European hardwoods.

A pale, creamy hardwood with a fine, even grain and a calm, understated character. European Beech is harder than cherry and walnut, making it a dependable choice for everyday boards, kitchen tools, and functional pieces that need to stand up to regular use. Its subtle colour and smooth surface let the form of the piece do the talking. Simple, honest, and quietly durable.

Care instructions

This is the board that stays out. The block pattern is more calm in person, honey oak against pale beech, while coming in at 4 kg, it doesn't move on its own during chopping. The side grips are smartly designed with a nice ergonomic grip and are good for lifting, even with wet hands.

Thank you Hazel, I'm really pleased that you like the board!
