Chopping boards made in the UK.
Every board on this page is made in the United Kingdom — cut, planed, glued, sanded and finished by hand by one maker, Ewald, in a workshop outside Selby in North Yorkshire. The timber is British-supplied, bought through a British timber merchant, but the trees themselves grow abroad: European oak, black walnut, Canadian maple, American cherry. It is the making that happens here, and every product page names its woods and where they grew.

Are these chopping boards made in the UK?
Yes — every one. The making all happens at a single bench outside Selby, in North Yorkshire: Ewald cuts the stock, glues the panel, planes it flat, sands it through the grits and finishes it by hand. Nothing is sent out to be done elsewhere.
Does “made in the UK” mean the wood is British too?
Not here, and it is worth being straight about it. The timber is British-supplied — bought through a British timber merchant — but the trees are grown abroad, mostly in Europe and North America: European oak, black walnut, Canadian maple, American cherry. What happens in Britain is the making. Each board's product page names its woods and where they grew.
Why does it matter where a chopping board is made?
Practically, it is the difference between a board you can ask questions about and one you cannot. The maker is a named person at a known bench, so the timber and the finish are traceable, the workmanship carries a twelve-month guarantee, and a tired board can be posted back to the same workshop years later to be restored.
